Scanner hot-swapping

The interface that users are presented with while scanning is consistent irrespective of what physical scanner model is being used. In the event of scanner malfunction or damage requiring a unit change, it is possible to simply hot-swap units, irrespective of the model, even while in the middle of a scanning job.

This feature can also be useful when the document being scanned has an unusual document type in the middle - for example, a credit card, passport, or an oversize page (e.g., A1 or A0 architects drawing) - that needs to be included as part of the same PDF. Users can swap scanners in the middle of a job to accommodate different media types, incorporating everything into one output PDF.
